About John R Wingard
Dr. Wingard was a professor of medicine within the division of hematology and oncology and served as Price Eminent Scholar, Director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program and Hematologic Malignancy Service. He is also a former Deputy Director of the UF Health Cancer Center. Dr. Wingard retired in 2023 and is now professor emeritus in the division of hematology and oncology.
Dr. Wingard has been continuously NIH-funded since 1999. He has published more than 400 articles in peer-reviewed journals, more than 60 book chapters, and has edited 4 books. Dr. Wingard has been honored twice by being selected for the University of Florida Research Foundation Professorship, which recognizes faculty members who have distinguished records of research. In 2018 and 2019, he was named a Highly Cited Researcher by Clarivate Analytics (top 1% most-cited reports in one’s field during the year of publication).
Dr. Wingard has held a number of leadership positions in the field of cellular therapy, including current Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research, Chair of the Steering Committee of the NHLBI/NCI Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network, member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapies, Past President of the American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation, and past Chair of the National Marrow Donor Program Board of Directors.
