North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) has been selected by SWOG to lead a Storefront Support Program for oncology research.
SWOG is a National Cancer Institute-supported, or NCI-supported, organization that conducts clinical trials in adult cancers. The Storefront program establishes a regional network of partner sites using a hub-and-spoke model, in which NF/SGVHS will serve as the hub site led by Dr. Brittany Rogers. The spoke sites will include VA Medical Centers in Tampa and Miami, with additional sites to be added in future years.
The NF/SGVHS team was selected based on its success in serving as a spoke site for another SWOG Storefront program led by the Boston VA Medical Center. Specifically, during the past two years, NF/SGVHS has opened six NCI-sponsored trials that enrolled 31 veterans.
In addition to Dr. Rogers, these prior trials have been led by Dr. Jess Delaune, Dr. Jennifer Duff, and Dr. Jessica Schmidt, with support from Clinical Research Coordinators Sarah Hanson and Megan Turnage, APRN.
Congratulations to the NF/SGVHS oncology research team for establishing a robust research program to serve veterans with cancer.
